2nd gen Modified Split Window 1963 Chevrolet Corvette For Sale.

This 1963 three owner Chevrolet Corvette split-window coupe was bought new in Sacramento, CA. Finished in red over
black, powered by a fresh professionally built 383ci stroker V8 paired with a rebuilt Muncie close ratio four-speed manual transmission and a rebuilt 3.08:1 limited-slip differential.

The fiberglass bodywork was reportedly modified by the first owner in the mid-1970s to be shown at Sacramento AutoRama by adding fender flares, a custom rear fascia, a center-exit exhaust system exiting through the rear valance, flush-mount door handles, front and rear spoilers, new grill, a LeMans-style fuel filler and 15” American Racing multi-spoke wheels to fill the flares.

The body was repainted in red in 2019, and exterior features include stock split rear window, a vented cowl-induction hood, fender vents, aftermarket side mirrors, concealed headlights. The seller notes the headlight motors were rebuilt during current ownership, all lights work but the windshield wipers do not work, never driven in the rain so did not worry about it.

The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes polished interior trim, lap belts, a glovebox, Corvette flag floor mats, an analog clock, and a vertically-mounted push-button AM/FM radio. The heater blower works intermittently, and the radio has static interference.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. An 8k-rpm Pro Tach tachometer is mounted in front of the factory gauge. The gauge faces have been repainted, and a replacement fuel level sending unit was installed under current ownership. The horn in not working and factory tachometer is not hooked up. The five- digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The car was acquired by the current (3 rd ) owner in 2017, and subsequent work consisted of repainting the body, rebuilding the engine, installing rebuilt transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, replacing the door and hood rubber, shocks, tires, radiator and hoses, fuel lines and exhaust.

Replacement engine 350 seasoned block all new balanced internal parts, aluminum heads, air gap manifold and rocker covers, new water pump, distributor, carb, roller cam, lifters, ceramic coated headers, exhaust system. Custom built oversized radiator with electric fan. Rebuilt 4 speed (by second owner never installed) with new Center Force clutch. Drive line and axle shafts rebuilt and balanced, rebuilt limited slip 3rd member. New shocks (Koni), composite rear spring. 4 wheel disk brakes (67 C2) new rotors, calipers, pads, master cylinder and booster, and replacing the wheel bearings, shocks, brake master cylinder, brake booster, , and replacing the wheel bearings, spindels and rear suspension bushings.

The 383ci stroker V8 was rebuilt by Crackaway Engine Machine, Sacramento, CA in 2019 with work including; balance and blueprint, replacing the camshaft, cylinder heads (Edelbrock), crankshaft (Scat), pistons, rods, bearings, oil pump, water pump, and radiator. Finned aluminum valve covers are fitted along with a chrome air cleaner, ceramic coated headers, and an electric Holley fuel pump. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed close ratio manual transmission and a 3.08:1 Eaton limited-slip differential.

This C2 Corvette is offered by the current (3 rd ) owner with service records, spare parts , and a clean California title, asking $68,000.00.
